Pinehurst Ryder Cup rematch in USA in late September

Pinehurst loses out to Mount Temple
An inaugural Ryder Cup 2 matchplay challenge match between Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst, representing the USA and Mount Temple representing Europe was hotly contested at the midlands club near Moate, Co. Westmeath last week. The 14 players on each side played both singles and foursomes matchplay with Mount Temple claiming victory by 12 points to 9.

Inspired by the staging of the Ryder Cup at the K Club, Mount Temple proprietor Michael Dolan, set the wheels in motion for this novel competition with Pinehurst Captain Gary Magee earlier this year. The success of the inaugural event has meant that arrangements are already being made for a return encounter in Pinehurst, North Carolina in September 2008 to coincide with the Ryder Cup which will be played in Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky.
